GLAST Off!!

For those that came in late..... the pic above is that of GLAST while it was still on our planet!
GLAST is NASA's Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, it just lifted off On June 11 and has successfully left Earth on a Delta 2.
Studying Gamma Ray emissions far and wide in the Universe this mission hopes to acquire new data about dark matter, pulsars, black holes and other high energy events of the Universe.
One of the most mysterious phenomena in the universe are the gamma ray bursts.
These are very short pulses but of very high energy which have been found to be coming from as far as distant galaxies. In order for these waves to reach us, their source must have been very violent, releasing huge amounts of energy!
GLAST has been launched mainly to study these Gamma ray bursts.
